Description
Breakwater in the IJsselmeer at sunset, in the vicinity of Hindeloopen, Friesland. It is an old weathered seawall that must protect the coast against the crashing of the waves and prevent the calving of land. It is made of thick wooden posts and stones have been poured in between to increase firmness. The breakwater dates back to the days when the IJsselmeer was in direct connection with the open sea.
